In a previous post, I mention that there are other easy, cheap ways to bring in customers in addition to using the old staple marketing techniques. In order to keep up with competition in Calgary, who are surely doing the same thing, you need to take advantage of the advertising opportunities presented by all the new types of technological gadgets being used today.
"Did you know 10% of all your website traffic comes from someone using a mobile cell phone or a tablet such as the iPad? If you do not have a version of your website optimized for mobile phones, you could be losing 1 in 10 customers, every day"- Calgary Internet Marketing Company
In addition to having a website and making sure it can be accessed using a phone, another cheap, relatively fast and easy thing you can do is make a Facebook page. Facebook is an extremely popular social network on the internet used by millions of people everyday. It is a free or, if you pay someone to make and upkeep it, very inexpensive way to advertise, and even better, it offers automatic targeting, because the only people who you will be advertising to are those who have expressed an interest in your company, service, or product. Like anything on the internet except paid ad campaigns, the results are usually slow at first but will show a steady increase over time.
How it works:
- Make a Facebook account if you don't have one already.
- Make a Facebook page about your company.
- Fill in all relevant details about the company and its products.
- Upload some great pictures, a cover photo, and use the update section to say anything you might want you customers to know about, such as a new product you offer, a promotion the company is having, or even a new product in the works that you would like feedback on.
- Get likes by running a Facebook ad campaign, asking for likes on your regular website, and by asking past customers or friends and family to like your page. Then, people who they are Facebook friends with will see your page and may Like it too. I will write more on gaining Facebook likes later.
- Each person that "Likes" your FB page will automatically see any updates you post to your page on their own Facebook status wall. Direct marketing at its finest!
You will want to interact with customers, go to check on them and comment on their Facebook posts also, to let them know you are interested in their lives. This is my number one tip for gaining customers and recommendations on Facebook. Interact with your customers, not just on your page, but by looking at theirs and commenting on the portion of their lives they post up for you to see.
